Male Observations

Our male Fossa spent more time not seen during 7.30 and 11.00 am (31.5%) (1), but was observed asleep more between 11.30 and 1.30 pm (26%) (2).
Resting was the third overall most observed behaviour, again this was observed more between 11.30 and 1.30 pm (20%) (2).

Pacing was a behaviour recorded, not as much as in previous studies though, this was observed more between 11.30 and 1.30 pm (16%) (2) from ‘Forsell‘.

Playing is a new behaviour observed throughout this study, enrichment items were given to both animals on random days.
Playing was seen more from the male during 7.30 and 11.00 am (21%) (1).
Scanning stationary was observed from ‘Forsell’ for equal percentages of time between 11.30 and 1.30 pm (2), and 2.00 and 5.30 pm (3) (8%).
Climbing was observed more from the male during 2.00 and 5.30 pm (8%) (3).

Another new behaviour seen by both animals was locomotion around the enclosure, not pacing. This was mostly recorded between 7.30 and11.00 am (2.5%) (1) by the male.

Feeding was observed more throughout this study by both animals, ‘Forsell’ was seen feeding more between 11.30 and 1.30 pm (5%) (2).
Exploratory behaviour was recorded from the male mostly between 2.00 and 5.30 pm (4%) (3).

Grooming was observed slightly more between 11.30 and 1.30 pm (2%) (2).
Drinking was observed more during this study during 11.30 and 1.30 pm (16%) (2).

The behaviours vocalising and defecating/ urinating were observed once only during 7.30 and 11.00 am (1).
